Ex-Vaq Maiwald is WAC Player of the Week

She's a star goalie at San Jose State
Former SBCC goalie Meghan Maiwald was named the Western Athletic Conference Defensive
Player of the Week for Oct. 17-23.
A senior at San Jose State, Maiwald made 13 saves in a pair of wins and ended the
week with a 137-minute scoreless streak. She helped shut out Louisiana Tech 2-0 on
Senior Day.
She set a single-season record with six shutouts last year and now has 10 in her
career (1 combined) to tie for second on the all-time list.
Maiwald was a first-team All-WSC player at SBCC in 2008-09. She was the No. 2 goalie
in the state in 2009 (0.35 goals-against avg.) and holds Vaquero school records for
shutouts in a season (13 in 2008) and career (24).
San Jose State (6-11-1) finished third in the WAC with a 4-2-1 mark and will open
play in the conference tournament on Thursday, Nov. 4 against Idaho.
