Sisterson gets 100th victory with men and women
Jessica Domenichelli didn’t waste any time finding the net on Friday in her college women’s soccer debut. She had a hat trick
in the first 26 minutes and went on to score four times in SBCC’s 4-1 season-opening victory over College of the Sequoias
at Girsh Park in Goleta.
The freshman forward from El Dorado Hills, Calif., found the net in the sixth, seventh and 26th minutes of the opening half,
giving the Vaqueros a 3-1 halftime lead. She scored her final goal with one minute left in the non-conference game.
“Coming in, I was a little nervous,” said Domenichelli. “Once we figured out the tempo and realized we could get around easy
on the outside, we settled down.
“We pass the ball around really well and we communicate well.”
Jenna Rubin, the sister of ex-Vaquero Casey Rubin, assisted on the first and fourth goals. Margot Valenzuela and Jaclyn Frankenberger
had the other assists.
The win was the 100th for John Sisterson as coach of the SBCC men’s and women’s soccer squads. He’s 59-24-25 in six seasons as women’s coach and
41-19-8 in four years coaching the men.
He got his 101st win in the second half of the doubleheader as the Vaquero men beat Sequoias by the same 4-1 score.
“The girls played very well today,” said Sisterson. “We had a lot of chances in the second half and their keeper was tremendous.
“Jessica was fantastic. We expected her to be an offensive weapon and she did what we thought she’d do. Ali (Alison Raack
of San Marcos High) was equally effective on the left flank. She’s not the biggest of girls but she tore it up.”
SBCC returns to action next week with three games in three days. The first one will be Thursday against Rio Hondo at Ventura
College, followed by Friday’s home opener against Santa Rosa at 7:30 p.m.

Vaqueros notch second straight 4-1 win
After giving up a goal in the fourth minute, SBCC pumped in four unanswered scores to top Rio Hondo 4-1 on Thursday at the
Ventura Invitational.
It was the second straight 4-1 triumph for the Vaqueros (2-0), who make their La Playa Stadium debut on Friday at 7:30 p.m.
against Santa Rosa.
Alison Raack tied the score at 1 in the 13th minute by taking a pass from Jenna Rubin and curling the ball into the top corner.
In the 43rd minute, Margot Valenzuela put the Vaqueros ahead 2-1 on a free kick from 25 yards out.
Rubin scored in the 55th minute on an assist from Katherine Earle. Anne Dunne added the fourth goal in the 73rd minute on
a header, with Valenzuela getting the assist.
“I was pleased with how we came back after falling behind early,” said coach John Sisterson. “We played very well.”

Domenichelli nets fifth goal; Zech is sharp in goal
SBCC surrendered an early goal for the second straight game on Friday night before rallying to earn a 1-1 women’s soccer tie
with Santa Rosa in its first game on the new synthetic turf at La Playa Stadium.
Cara Cutin broke free and scored in the second minute for the Bear Cubs, who reached the 2008 state final. Jessica Domenichelli
notched her fifth goal of the season in the 47th minute with her left foot after taking a pass from Elicity Fabing.
Hannah Zech made some impressive saves in the second half, turning away seven shots on goal for SBCC (2-0-1). .
“That early goal was the same thing as Thursday, we got caught square in the back,” said coach John Sisterson. “It was a
battle throughout. I thought both teams competed very well.”
Santa Rosa goalie Julie Freeman was injured after a collision with SBCC’s Katherine Earle in the final minute of the first
half. She reportedly hurt her clavicle and was taken away in an ambulance.
The Vaqueros will play their third game in three days on Saturday when they take on West Valley at 11:30 a.m. in the Ventura
Invitational.

Domenichelli dominates again
Freshman gets hat trick in 3-1 victory
Jessica Domenichelli recorded her second hat trick in four games on Saturday, leading SBCC past West Valley 3-1 at the Ventura
Invitational.
The freshman forward from El Dorado Hills has eight goals for the Vaqueros (3-0-1), including a four-goal flourish in the
season opener. She scored in the 23rd minute on an assist from Alison Raack but West Valley, a team from Saratoga, tied it
in the 38th.
Three minutes later, Domenichelli struck again, taking a through ball from Margot Valenzuela and beating the keeper for a
2-1 halftime lead. Domenichelli found the net for the third time in the 57th minute and Raack got her second assist.
“We started off well and dominated the entire game,” said coach John Sisterson. “We got stronger as the game went on. This
team is forming a real bond and they could be something special.”

SBCC tops Taft to stay unbeaten
Valenzuela has two assists; Domenichelli nets 9th goal
Margot Valenzuela assisted on two goals Friday afternoon and Amanda Tafoya converted a penalty kick in her first college game
as SBCC remained unbeaten with a 3-1 win at Taft.
Annie Dunne scored in the ninth minute on a corner kick from Valenzuela. The Cougars tied it in the 36th minute but the Vaqueros
(4-0-1) responded four minutes later when Ali Raack was pushed down in the penalty area.
Tafoya, a freshman from Mission Viejo, put the visitors ahead for good 2-1 by converting the penalty kick into the bottom
left.
Jessica Domenichelli completed the scoring with her ninth goal in the 87th minute on a through ball from Valenzuela.
"The girls played well and we’re delighted,” said coach John Sisterson. “Our score could have been higher if their keeper
hadn’t played so well in the second half.”

SBCC gets first shutout, 3-0
Domenichelli scores 10th goal at Santa Monica
SBCC scored three second-half goals, including the 10th of the year by freshman Jessica Domenichelli, to defeat Santa Monica
3-0 on Tuesday afternoon.
The road win was the third straight for the Vaqueros, who remain unbeaten at 5-0-1.
Annie Dunne opened the scoring for the second straight game by converting a corner kick from Jaclyn Frankenberger in the
54th minute. In the 68th minute, Amanda Tafoya scored her second goal
in as many games. Domenichelli beat two players at the edge of the penalty box and slotted the ball to Tafoya for a 2-0 lead.
In the 75th minute, Ali Raack delivered a through ball to Domenichelli, who beat a player, then turned and scored in the
top corner. She’s scored in four straight games and has 10 goals in six contests.

Domenichelli scores again, Frankenberger gets two assists
Jessica Domenichelli scored in the fifth minute on Friday afternoon at La Playa Stadium and Jaclyn Frankenberger had two assists
on corner kicks, leading the SBCC women’s soccer team to a 3-1 victory over L.A. Harbor.
Domenichelli took a pass from Katherine Earle and beat the keeper in the upper left for her 11th goal of the year. The freshman
from El Dorado Hills has scored in five straight games for the unbeaten Vaqueros (6-0-1), who‘ve won their last four by a
combined score of 12-3.
Harbor tied the game in the 16th minute before Earle put the home team ahead to stay by heading in a corner from Frankenberger
in the 34th minute. Seven minutes into the second half,
Frankenberger set up Anne Dunne for a header that made it 3-1. Goalie Cheyenne Rodriguez made a nice diving stop after a
shot bounced by her in the 18th minute.
“Jaclyn was serving up some tremendous corners, every one was spot on,” said SBCC coach John Sisterson. “We could have had
more (goals). The second half was much better than the first.”
Santa Barbara outshot the visitors 10-2 in the second half.
The Vaqueros will take a 10-day break before opening WSC play at Hancock on Sept. 28.

Vaqueros set school record in WSC opener
Crumpley has hat trick in 13-0 win at Hancock
SBCC was playing its first game in 11 days on Tuesday but it didn’t look like it in a 13-0 victory at Hancock.
The unbeaten Vaqueros (7-0-1, 1-0) scored five goals in the first 14 minutes of the WSC North opener in Santa Maria and led
10-0 at halftime on the way to a school-record 13 goals.
Morgan Crumpley recorded the first hat trick of her college career and Jessica Domenichelli, Ali Raack and Nicole Payne-Duhe
had two goals apiece. Crumpley scored in the 14th, 46th and 54th minutes.
Domenichelli, the third-leading scorer in the state, has 13 goals in eight games. The Vaqueros, ranked 15th in Southern California,
have outscored their opponents 34-6 this season.
Sara Tomas scored in the second minute, Domenichelli in the third and Margot Valenzuela in the fifth for a quick 3-0 lead.
Jenna Rubin had three assists while Brittany Brennhofer had a goal and two assists.

Rubin, Schmidt score in sixth straight win
Jenna Rubin scored in the 17th minute and Jacalyn Schmidt added an insurance goal in the 47th on Friday night as SBCC shut
out Moorpark 2-0 for its sixth straight women’s soccer victory.
The Vaqueros, ranked No. 7 in Southern California, improved to 8-0-1 on the year and 2-0 in the WSC North. Moorpark is 4-3-1
and 1-1.
During the six-game streak, SBCC has outscored its opponents 27-3.
Rubin converted a corner kick from Jaclyn Frankenberger and Schmidt scored on a breakaway in the second minute of the second
half.
“That was a good performance,” said coach John Sisterson. “Their goalkeeper made some great saves in the second half on Margot
(Valenzuela) and Jessica (Domenichelli).”
Domenichelli, who has 13 goals, had her six-match goal-scoring streak halted. Valenzuela fired a free kick off the crossbar
in the 90th minute.

No. 8 Vaqueros suffer first loss, 3-0
No. 2 Fresno snaps SBCC’s six-game win streak
No. 2 Fresno City was too much for No. 8 SBCC on Saturday afternoon as the Rams handed the visiting Vaqueros their first loss
in women’s soccer, 3-0.
Santa Barbara (8-1-1) had its six-game win streak halted. Fresno (9-2-1), which led 2-0 at halftime, vaulted into the top
spot in the state power rankings after the victory.
“Things didn’t go well on a hot day after a long journey,” said SBCC coach John Sisterson. “We just didn’t perform well.
We did a good job of controlling the ball in the last 40 minutes but we never got a good chance to score.”
The Vaqueros will put their 2-0 WSC North record on the line in two home games next week -- Tuesday against Oxnard and Friday
against Cuesta. Both kick off at 7 p.m.

Domenichelli gets 14th goal in WSC victory
Three days after suffering its first loss, SBCC bounced back with a 4-0 shutout of Oxnard on Tuesday night in a women’s soccer
match at La Playa Stadium.
The Vaqueros, ranked No. 8 in Southern Cal and 11th in the state, improved to 9-1-1 and 3-0 in the WSC North. Oxnard fell
to 8-4-2 and 1-3-1.
Brittany Brennhofer scored in the 21st minute on an assist from Katherine Earle. Four minutes later, Jackie Schmidt made
it 2-0 after taking a pass from Jessica Domenichelli.
Domenichelli tallied her 14th goal of the year in the 65th minute. The freshman forward took a through ball from Jenna Rubin
and beat the keeper one-on-one. In the 78th minute, Nicole Payne-Duhe got a pass from Ali Raack, cut back from the right flank
and beat the keeper with her left foot.
It was the seventh win in eight games for the Vaqueros, who are tied for first with Ventura (3-0) and Moorpark (3-1).
“Sometimes, it’s tough to come back from a tough loss like the one we had at Fresno (ranked No. 1 in the state),” said coach
John Sisterson. “We played hard tonight and got our just rewards."

Two late goals lift SBCC, 3-1
Vaqueros improve to 4-0 in WSC
Jenna Rubin snapped a 1-1 tie with a goal in the 88th minute on Friday night at La Playa Stadium and Brittany Brennhofer
scored a minute later to give SBCC a 3-1 women’s soccer win over Cuesta. The victory kept the 10th-ranked Vaqueros perfect
in WSC play.
SBCC (10-1-1, 4-0), winners of eight of its last nine, trails conference leader Ventura (5-0) by three points. The Vaqueros
travel to take on the Pirates on Tuesday at 5:30 p.m.
Jacalyn Schmidt gave Santa Barbara a 1-0 lead in the 35th minute. Cuesta tied it on a free kick in the 60th minute.
Rubin curled a ball into the lower left corner from 20 yards out with three minutes to play. One minute later, Brennhofer
took a through ball from Jessica Domenichelli and smashed it into the goal on a first-time strike.
“We dominated play in the second half and deserved to win,” said coach John Sisterson.
The Vaqueros have outscored their opponents 43-10 and are No. 3 in the state in goals scored.
With the rescheduling of the West L.A. game, SBCC will play three times in three days next week at Ventura (Tuesday), at
West L.A. (Wednesday) and Thursday at home at 7 p.m. against Hancock.

SBCC suffers first WSC loss
Ventura upset No. 8 SBCC 2-0 in a first-place WSC women’s soccer showdown on Tuesday night at Ventura.
The Pirates, ranked 15th in the state, scored a goal in each half to improve to 9-2-2 and 6-0 in the WSC North. The Vaqueros
(10-2-1, 4-1) suffered their second shutout of the season.
The game was delayed by lightning for a half-hour late in the first half.
“We didn’t play well,” said SBCC coach John Sisterson. “They scored their first goal on a defensive error. Too many of our
people had off-nights and you can’t do that when you play at Ventura
“After the game was stopped by lightning, we came back and had a lot of opportunities but we couldn’t finish.”
The Vaqueros are playing three games in three days. They’ll travel to West L.A. for a makeup game Wednesday and play host
to Hancock on Thursday at 7 p.m.

Vaqueros bounce back with 2-0 win
Domenichelli gets 15th goal at West L.A.
Jessica Domenichelli scored in the fifth minute on Wednesday and Amanda Tafoya added a goal in the 57th minute as SBCC bounced
back from its first WSC loss to blank West L.A. 2-0 in Culver City.
The Vaqueros (11-2-1, 5-1) were playing their second game in less than 24 hours. They dropped a 2-0 decision at Ventura on
Tuesday night. SBCC completed the first round of WSC North play in second place, three points behind Ventura (18-15).
Domenichelli took a pass from Tafoya and beat the keeper for her 15th goal of the season. She's fourth in the state in goals
scored and points (32). Sara Tomas assisted on Tafoya’s third goal.
“It was all one-way traffic, I don‘t think they had a shot on goal,” said coach John Sisterson. “We got everybody in and
were able to rest some people.”
SBCC will play its third game in three days on Thursday night when it hosts Hancock at La Playa Stadium.

It’s a goal-fest for Vaqueros
Tomas, Dunne get hat tricks in 19-0 win
Sara Tomas and Anne Dunne recorded hat tricks on Thursday night and SBCC shattered its scoring record in a 19-0 victory over
Hancock at La Playa Stadium.
The previous record of 13 goals was set Sept. 28 at Hancock.
The Vaqueros, ranked 10th in the state, improved to 12-2-1 and 6-1 in the WSC North. Hancock (0-10, 0-7) only had 11 players
available.
Jacalyn Schmidt opened the scoring with a rebound shot in the 12th minute and six minutes later, Tomas made a strong run
up the right side, then cut back and beat the keeper to make it 2-0.
Tomas, a freshman defender, scored her third goal in the 32nd minute on an assist from Jessica Domenichelli, stretching the
lead to 7-0. Santa Barbara, which is 6-0-1 at home this season, led 11-0 at halftime.
“We didn’t want to have any bad, unexpected plays so we just kept our composure,” said Tomas, whose older sister, Hillary,
plays on the Vaquero volleyball team. “Playing three games in three days was a little tiring but it was nice knowing we had
a little easier game.”
Jenna Rubin had two goals and three assists while Schmidt, Nicole Payne-Duhe and Emily Myrick contributed two goals apiece.
Domenichelli scored her 16th goal of the year in the 36th minute and also had three assists. Dunne found the net twice in
a three-minute span early in the second half and got her hat trick in the 90th minute on an assist from Brittany Brennhofer.
All 17 Vaqueros saw action in their third game in three days.

Domenichelli nets 17th goal at Moorpark
Jessica Domenichelli posted her 17th goal on Tuesday afternoon as 12th-ranked SBCC tied No. 17 Moorpark 1-1 in a WSC North
match at Moorpark.
Domenichelli scored in the 25th minute on an assist from Mandy Tafoya. The freshman from El Dorado Hills has scored in three
straight games and 11 of 16 overall for the second-place Vaqueros (12-2-2, 6-1-1).
Domenichelli is fourth in the state in goals (17) and points (38).
The Raiders (9-4-2, 5-2-1) got the equalizer in the 41st minute.

Myrick nets two goals in 6-0 rout
Domenichelli scores in third minute at home
Jessica Domenichelli scored in the third minute Friday night and freshman Emily Myrick added two goals in the last five minutes as No. 11 SBCC routed West L.A. 6-0 at La Playa Stadium.
Domenichelli has scored in the last four games, boosting her season total to 18 for the Vaqueros (13-2-2, 7-1-1), who are 7-0-1 at home.
Jenna Rubin and Jacalyn Schmidt had first-half goals to make it 3-0 and Kate Earle's through ball led to Schmidt’s tally in the 43rd minute. Earle made a long run and blasted her fifth goal of the year in the 80th minute. Santa Barbara's offense is No. 2 in the state with 71 goals.
Cheyenne Rodriguez and Hannah Zech combined on the third shutout in four games.
SBCC has three regular- season games left, starting Friday, Nov. 5 at Oxnard.

Domenichelli gets third hat trick
Earle adds two goals in 6-0 rout of Oxnard
The offensive fireworks continued for SBCC as Jessica Domenichelli recorded her third hat trick of the year on Friday in a
6-0 win at Oxnard.
The freshman from El Dorado Hills scored in the first and fifth minutes, staking the ninth-ranked Vaqueros (14-2-2, 8-1-1
WSC North) to a 2-0 halftime lead. Margot Valenzuela and Jenna Rubin assisted on the goals.
Domenichelli scored in her fifth straight game, raising her season total to 21 goals -- fifth-highest in the state.
It was the second straight 6-0 win for SBCC, which has the No. 2 offense in California with 77 goals. They’re 4-0-1 in their
last five, outscoring their opponents 33-1 during that span.
Katherine Earle scored in the 46th and 56th minutes, then Sara Thomas added a penalty kick after getting pulled down in the
box to make it 5-0 in the 75th minute.
Two minutes later, Domenichelli took a through ball from Rubin and beat the keeper.
The second-place Vaqueros travel to Cuesta on Tuesday before hosting Ventura in a first-place showdown in their season finale
on Friday, Nov. 12.

Schmidt scores twice in comeback win
Vaqueros edge Cuesta 2-1 on the road
Jacalyn Schmidt scored two goals on Tuesday afternoon to propel No. 9 SBCC past Cuesta 2-1 in a women’s soccer match in San
Luis Obispo.
The Vaqueros (15-2-2, 9-1-1) won their third straight game to remain in second place in the WSC North with one game remaining
on Friday at home against first place Ventura (11-0).
After Cuesta scored the first goal in the 37th minute, the Vaqueros tied it in the 44th when Jessica Domenichelli got behind
the defense and fed Schmidt for the goal.
In the 75th minute, Brittany Brennhofer took a through ball and passed it to Schmidt, who scored on a back-heel flick.
“The second half was one-way traffic,” said coach John Sisterson. “We had several good chances, including one that was headed
away at the goal line.
“We’re ranked No. 7 in Southern Cal and we need to stay in the top eight to get a home game in the first round of the playoffs.”

Vaqueros suffer first home loss
Ventura blanks SBCC 2-0 in regular-season finale
Ventura scored a pair of first-half goals on Friday night, then held SBCC scoreless the rest of the way for a 2-0 women’s soccer victory at La Playa Stadium.
The Pirates (15-3-2, 12-0-0) completed a perfect WSC North season and handed the second-place Vaqueros (15-3-2, 9-2-1) their first home loss. Santa Barbara is 7-1-1 at home this year.
Ventura scored in the 31st minute on a free kick and in the 43rd minute on a rebound off the crossbar. The Vaqueros have only been shut out three times this season, including a pair of 2-0 losses to Ventura. The Pirates moved up to No. 2 in the Southern Cal power rankings.
SBCC is ranked No. 7 and needs to stay in the top eight to host a first-round South Region playoff game on Saturday, Nov. 20. The pairings will be announced on Tuesday.

Domenichelli scores four in playoff rout
She nets four goals in first 17 minutes of 7-1 win
Jessica Domenichelli started her SBCC playoff career the same way she started this season with a four-goal eruption in Saturday‘s 7-1 over Moorpark in the opening round of the Southern Cal Women‘s Soccer Regional.
Domenichelli, a freshman forward, racked up her four scores in the first 17 minutes at La Playa Stadium, beating the keeper in the third, 12th, 15th and 17th minutes. After Moorpark (12-6-2) tied the score at 1-1 in the eighth minute, Domenichelli took a pass from Mandy Tafoya and scored on a breakaway to put the Vaqueros ahead for good.
Anne Dunne blasted a 35-yard shot into the upper right corner for a 3-1 lead in the 14th minute and then Domenichelli found the net twice in the next three minutes for a 5-1 cushion after just 17 minutes.
It was the fourth hat trick of the year for Domenichelli, who raised her school-record goal total to 25.
“The last two times we played Moorpark, we beat them 2-0 and tied 1-1, so it was surprising to get seven today,” said Domenichelli. “We were really motivated in practice this week and we played hard. We were ready to go.

SBCC (16-3-2) improved to 8-1-1 at home this season. The Vaqueros have to face a second straight WSC rival in the playoffs on Tuesday, traveling south to take on WSC champion and No. 2 seed Ventura (16-3-2).
The Pirates beat the Vaqueros twice this year by 2-0 scores.
Jenna Rubin made it 6-1 in the 61st minute on a shot from 30 yards out and Brittany Brennhofer completed the scoring in the 65th minute by heading in a long free kick from Margot Valenzuela. Valenzuela also assisted on Domenichelli’s first goal.

No. 2 seed Ventura beats Vaqueros for third time
After SBCC failed to convert on a pair of solid first-half chances, Ventura scored twice in an 11-minute span of the second
half and went on to beat the Vaqueros 3-0 in the second round of the Southern Cal Women’s Soccer playoffs.
It was the third meeting of the year between the No. 2-seeded Pirates, who won the WSC title, and the WSC runner-up Vaqueros,
who were seeded seventh. Ventura (17-3-2) won all three meetings with SBCC (16-4-2).
Jessica Domenichelli, coming off a four-goal game against Moorpark, had a 1-on-1 opportunity with the Ventura goalie in the
first half but couldn’t convert. A short time later, Margot Valenzuela had another good chance but failed to punch it in.
Ventura scored in the 55th and 65th minutes to take a 2-0 lead.
“We were nationally ranked and this is the farthest the girls have ever advanced,” said coach John Sisterson. “It was a good
season and we’ll have a lot of talent coming back next year.”
Domenichelli, a freshman forward, set a school record with 25 goals.
