Vaqueros finish third in WSC
Bullemer is 10th in state
A young SBCC squad struggled with consistency in 2010 and ended up third in the Western State Conference. It was the first
time in eight years that the Vaqueros (19-17) didn’t finish first or second.
Nicole Bullemer, a freshman from Dos Pueblos High, was the No. 1 player. She took medalist honors in the first two WSC matches.
On Sept. 3, she shot a season-low 74 on the way to a third-place finish at the Cactus Classic in Palm Springs.
Bullemer and sophomore Nicole Denny were named to the first-team All-WSC squad. They advanced to the Southern Cal Regional,
along with Emily Wisma.
Bullemer placed eighth in the regional and went on to tie for 10th in the State Championships at Los Serranos in Chino Hills
with scores of 84 and 79.
The team shot a season-best 319 on Halloween in the first round of the WSC Finals. They needed to beat WSC runner-up Bakersfield
in the final round to make the regional but came up short.
“This was a great group to work with and I can’t say enough about their character,” said coach Chuck Melendez. “They worked
hard all season.”
