Nurse Refresher Course
Review and Update of Nursing Skills – NURS 194
Are you a registered nurse (RN) or licensed vocational nurse (LVN/LPN) who has been away from acute care nursing? Do you feel that you would profit from reviewing/updating and an opportunity for "hands-on" skills practice? If so, the Review and Update of Nursing Skills/Nurse Refresher Course may be the answer for you.
The course is a 0.5 unit (27 hour) independent study course which allows you to use computer assisted instruction programs, videos, computerized simulators, nursing supplies and equipment available in the Allied Health Nursing Lab (AHNL). You will have an opportunity for an individual appointment with the AHNL director and coordinator to develop a plan with you based on your self-assessed learning needs. NURS 194 is an independent, unstructured class giving you access to the Santa Barbara City College AHNL. There is no hospital clinical experience. You are welcome to use the AHNL anytime it is open during the semester in which you are enrolled. All required hours must be completed before the semester ends.
To get started, think about what your goals are as you work towards re-entry into nursing. Then attend an information meeting.
