Winslow, Dyer make first team
SBCC’s Matt Winslow and Jordon Dyer have been selected first-team All-Western State
Conference in men’s volleyball.
Winslow, a 6-5 freshman from Clovis, was second in the WSC in kills (189) and third
in kills per game (3.50). Dyer, a sophomore setter from Dos Pueblos High, was third
in the conference with 9.5 assists per game.
Sophomore opposite Cody Kreitzer and freshman middle hitter Chris Utroske were second-team
choices. Kreitzer was second on the team with 108 kills and 10th in the conference in kill average (2.6 per game). Utroske was seventh in hitting
percentage (.345) and led the Vaqueros in blocks with 67.
Santa Barbara went 1-4 in its first four conference matches (with four of five on
the road), then finished strong, going 4-1 in the last five. The only loss came in
the season finale, a 3-1 decision to eventual state champion Long Beach.
The Vaqueros finished 10-7 overall and 5-5 in conference, one game out of a playoff
spot.
