CTR positions, Gwimett Medical Center, Lawrenceville, GA

Gwinnett Medical Center is a 500+ bed level 2 Trauma Center located in Lawrenceville, GA. We have two current needs for CTR’s.  One position is onsite and the other is remote.  If you have any questions regarding these opportunities, please feel free to contact me.

Summary:

Maintains the efficient operations of an oncology registry; to identify eligible patients to be entered into the data base; follow patients with a diagnosis of malignancy; to retrieve and analyze registry data; to disseminate these data elements in accordance with professional ethics; and maintain accreditation with the American College of Surgeons.
Requirements:
Required: CTR certification

Required: Minimum of 2 year degree, prefer: RHIA, RHIT, or RN or BS in Science related field. In lieu of a 2 year degree equivalent combination of previous work experience and education will be considered.

Minimum of two (2) years' experience working in a hospital based oncology registry/cancer program, preferred.

Must have competence in the use of Oncology Software, PowerPoint, Excel, and Microsoft Word. 

Must have an excellent background in Medical Terminology.  Knowledge of tumor nomenclature and classification systems; knowledge of coding topography and morphology of registered

oncology cases.

Must display excellent verbal and written communication skills.  Must be comfortable in working with physicians and other professional and other professional disciplines.

The University of New Mexico Comprehensive Cancer Center Quality Programs is seeking an energetic, detailed, self-motivating, currently Certified Tumor Registrar (CTR). We are looking for a team player with current abstraction experience. We are adding this new position to join our staff of 5 CTRs, 4 abstractors to meet the needs of this NCI designated Cancer Center. The CTR will help to develop medical abstractors, case find, abstract medical records, prepare for cancer conferences and assist with regulatory and certification requirements. Current Tumor Registrar Certification (National Cancer Registrar's Association), must be maintained without break in certification.

Position Summary

The University of New Mexico Comprehensive Cancer Center is the Official Cancer Center of New Mexico and the only National Cancer Institute-designated Cancer Center in a 500-mile radius. Its 125 board-certified oncology specialty physicians include cancer surgeons in every specialty (abdominal, thoracic, bone and soft tissue, neurosurgery, genitourinary, gynecology, and head and neck cancers), adult and pediatric hematologists/medical oncologists, gynecologic oncologists, and radiation oncologists. They, along with more than 500 other cancer healthcare professionals (nurses, pharmacists, nutritionists, navigators, psychologists and social workers), provided cancer care for nearly 60 percent of the adults and children in New Mexico affected by cancer. They treated 11,249 patients in 84,875 ambulatory clinic visits in addition to in-patient hospitalizations at UNM Hospital. These patients came from every county in the State. More than 12 percent of these patients participated in cancer clinical trials testing new cancer treatments and 35 percent of patients participated in other clinical research studies, including tests of novel cancer prevention strategies and cancer genome sequencing. The 130 cancer research scientists affiliated with the UNMCCC were awarded almost $60 million in federal and private grants and contracts for cancer research projects and published 301 high quality publications. Promoting economic development, they filed more than 30 new patents in FY16, and since 2010, have launched 11 new biotechnology start-up companies. Scientists associated with the UNMCCC Cancer Control & Disparities have conducted more than 60 statewide community-based cancer education, prevention, screening, and behavioral intervention studies involving more than 10,000 New Mexicans. Finally, the physicians, scientists and staff have provided education and training experiences to more than 230 high school, undergraduate, graduate, and postdoctoral fellowship students in cancer research and cancer health care delivery.  Learn more at http://cancer.unm.edu.

Clinical Documentation Improvement Manager, Harlingen, TX
($10K SIGNING BONUS)

Responsible for managing and directing clinical documentation improvement, data abstraction and associated activities.  Ensures accurate and timely reviews of inpatient records according to Tenet Policies and Procedures.  Directly manages all employees involved in clinical documentation and abstracting, provides direction for all hospital document improvement activities, audits, education, and productivity standards required to reach targets at all hospitals in the market. Performs duties as necessary to support quality improvement processes in the Health Information Management Department as well as that of the hospitals.

Qualifications:

Cancer Tumor Registrar 1, job # 1603265, California Pacific Medical Center, San Francisco,CA

Under the direction of the Director of Cancer Services and supervision of the Manager of Oncology Services, this position gathers and analyzes data for required patient care evaluations and special studies, induding National Cancer Data Base, and assists in coordinating and monitoring major Cancer Information Systems (CIS) functions. Represents the cancer registry in various cancer program and hospital committees, Works with CIS staff, other hospital personnel, and physicians to insure the Cancer Program meets requirements for American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer accreditation, additional certifications, and Centers of Excellence designations as needed.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

Education: Associates Degree (AA). College-level medical terminology and human anatomy/physiology coursework, Certified Tumor Registrar (CTR) with completion of a recognized Tumor Registrar's training program or equivalent. RHIA, RHIT, or other recognized health information related certification would be considered, if able to qualify for CTR Certification examination or within 18 months of hire,

Knowledge: Knowledge of cancer, cancer staging mechanisms, and ICD-9/ICD-10 coding systems,

Skills: Demonstrated inter personal skills with ability to interface effectively and professionally with physicians and hospital staff. Professional in verbal and written communication skills. Ability to be highly discrete when dealing with confidential patient information. Proficient in word processing, spreadsheet and presentation applications. Experienced with using cancer registry software (i.e. C-Next) desired.

Experience: Minimum one years experience in performing full spectrum of cancer registry task, induding abstracting experience in an accredited hospital setting. Prefer minimum two years experience as a Certified Cancer Tumor Registrar.
