Barbara
Lindemann's specialties at SBCC have been
the history of American Women and the History
of the Immigrant Experience, both courses
that she inaugurated. In addition to teaching
U.S. survey courses, she has been part of
the Honors Program since its beginning,
teaching an interdisciplinary course in
the 1980s- American Institutions: Methods
of Social Scientists. More recently she
taught honors sections of the Immigrant
Experience and of the U.S. Survey since
1865. Her research centers on the history
of U.S. women.
While
co-director (with Professor Ron Adler of
the Communication Department) of the SBCC
in Cambridge (England) program in spring,
1997, she taught the history of Great Britain
to 1615. Subsequently she was co-director
of the SBCC in D.C. program along with Professor
Manou Eskandari of the Political Science
Department. This trip took her back to her
roots in southern Pennsylvania and Baltimore
where many members of her family still live.
