Nine Vaqueros receive All-APC honors
SBCC quarterback John Uribe was honored as Offensive Player of the Year by the American
Pacific Conference in a vote of football coaches.

He was No. 2 in the state with a passer rating of 157.5.

Uribe is guaranteed a spot on the All-State Region VI team.
The Vaqueros (4-6, 3-3) finished fourth in the APC. Their last seven games were decided
by seven points or less and their three conference losses were by a total of 17 points.
Sophomore Michael Douglas, the leading rusher in the conference (662 yards; 83 per
game), was a first-team offensive choice along with freshman Chad Toocheck, the No.

Chris Anderson (6-3, 270). Anderson has received a scholarship offer from New Mexico

Douglas had four straight 100-yard rushing games before suffering an injury.
Lineman Sean Hampshire (6-2, 290) and receiver Chris Kordakis (33 catches, 612 yards,
18.5 avg.) made the second team.
On defense, freshman Manny Hernandez was a first-team selection twice, making it
as a linebacker and punter. Sophomore linebacker Sam Shipley also made the first team.
Hernandez tied for the state lead with 130 tackles and was the No. 1 punter in the
conference with a 39.0-yard average and a long of 62.
Shipley, a former San Marcos High standout like Hernandez, was eighth in the state
with 102 tackles.
Free safety Matt Arve earned second-team honors. He was second in the conference
with five interceptions and his 27-yard kick return average was No. 1.
