# Math Learning Communities

**Spring 2018**

**Math 95-107:** Complete both Math 95 and Math 107 (the AA graduation requirement) in one semester.
Upon completion, students will be eligible for any transfer level mathematics course
and will have learned math study skills to help succeed in the next math course. It
is recommended that students not schedule work or another class for at least the next
hour or two following their math class. This is the perfect time to begin the day's
assignment with classmates or to meet with the instructor or Gateway tutor. Additionally,
note that this combined math course requires a very high level of commitment. Students
should reserve, **on average, 20+ hours per week for homework and studying for this math immersion class. **

**MLC 1 **– Math 95-107 MTWR, 10:45am-1:00pm, 9 units (Pam Guenther) and Math 95N, M 1:10pm-2:00pm, 1 unit (Pam Guenther) and either an appropriate PD, reading or GE course - ** 1 Seat**

**MLC 2 **- Math 95-107, MTWR 1:00pm-3:15pm, 9 units (Sherry Masooman) and Math 95N, T 3:30pm-4:20pm,
1 unit (Sherry Masooman) and either an appropriate PD, reading or GE course - **21 Seats Available**

**Math 107-120:** Complete both Math 107 (the AA graduation requirement) and Math 120 (college-level
transfer course) in one semester. Upon completion, students will be eligible for
other college-level transfer courses. Students will also learn math study skills
that are crucial to passing any math course. It is recommended that students not
schedule work or another class for at least the next hour following this class. The
hour following class is the perfect time to begin the day's assignment with classmates
or to meet with the instructor or Gateway tutor. Additionally, note that this combined
course requires a very high level of commitment. Students should reserve,** on average, 15 to 20 hours per week for homework and studying for this math immersion
class.**

**MLC 3** – Math 107-120, MWF, 8:00am-10:25am, 8 units (Chris Panza) and Math 107N, F 10:30am-11:20am
1 unit, (Chris Panza) and either PD 110 or an appropriate reading course or an appropriate GE course - **25 Seats Available**

**MLC 4** - Math 107-120, MWF, 12:45pm-3:10pm, 8 units (Dave Bennett) and Math 107N, 1 unit (Dave
Bennett) and either PD 110 or an appropriate reading course or an appropriate GE course - **21** **Seats Available**

**Math 107-117: **Complete both Math 107 (the AA graduation requirement) and Math 117 (college-level
transfer course) in one semester. Upon completion, students will be eligible for
other college-level transfer courses. Students will also learn math study skills
to help get through these two courses and any future math courses. The Math 107,
Math 107 N, and Math 117 immersion class require a high level of **commitment**, including **regular attendance** to class and work on homework outside of class for **an estimated 15 to 20 hours each week**. It is also recommended that students save the 1 ½ hours following this class and
not schedule any transportation, work, or class at this time. This is the perfect
time to begin the day's assignment with a study group or to meet with the instructor
or Gateway tutor.

**MLC 5 **– Math 107-117, MTWR, 8:00am-10:10am, 8 units (Ignacio Alarcon) and Math 107N, 1 unit,
(Ignacio Alarcon) and either PD 110 or an appropriate reading course or an appropriate GE course - **16 Seats Available**

**MLC 6 **- Math 107-117, MTWR, 12:45pm-2:50pm, 8 units (Gabe Pretel) and Math 107N, M, 3:00pm-3:50pm,
1 unit, (Gabe Pretel) and either PD 110 or an appropriate reading course or an appropriate GE course -** 5 Seats Available**

**PD 100 **for ESP students: MW, 8:00am-9:20am, 3 units (Esther Frankel) Note: Students who
have not taken PD100 are encouraged to take this class along with their English or
Math Learning Community classes. -** 19 Seats Available**
