an assistant coach for the last three years. In 2009, he was the head coach of the
Peninsula Oilers in the prestigious Alaska Summer League in 2009. He previously spent
wo years as an assistant baseball coach at Ohlone College in Fremont. In his time
at Ohlone, the Renegades led the state in stolen bases, qualified for the state playoffs
and were one of the top hitting clubs in California.
Jeff was the baseball coach and athletic director at Saratoga High for five years
(2002-06). In 2005, he was named Central Coast Section Athletic Director of the Year
after overseeing the fundraising and development of the school's athletic fields.
He also worked as a scout for the Colorado Rockies and spent four summers coaching
in NCAA-sanctioned leagues. He’s coached more than 60 players who have been drafted
or signed by professional baseball teams.
Walker was an all-section outfielder at St. Francis High in Mountain View. He went
on to earn all-state honors at Canada College in Redwood City and still holds the
record for homers in a season (18). His Canada teams won two conference titles and
reached the State Final Four in 1998. He played two years for Loyola Marymount, earning all-conference honors and helping
the Lions capture a WCC title in 2000. Walker got his B.A. from Loyola Marymount in
history and has Master’s degrees in Education and Exercise Science.
Pitching Coach Justin Aspegren (5th year)

Email: jlaspegren@gmail.comJustin graduated from UCSB where he was part of the Gauchos pitching staff for the
2006 and 2007 seasons. He was a two-year starter as a starting pitcher and utility
player at SBCC and helped lead the 2005 squad to the playoffs for the first time since
1978. Justin was part of a pitching staff that led the State in ERA in 2005. He compiled
13 wins over two years at SBCC while earning All-Conference honors twice.
Justin will handle the pitching staff and assist with recruiting. He's coached three
WSC Pitchers of the Year --. Bryce Uhrig (2008), Zach Edgington (2010) and Chris Joyce
(2011). Joyce was the Southern Cal Pitcher of the Year and the Cincinnati Reds chose
him in the 19th round of the 2011 MLB Draft. Kylin Turnbull, a left-hander on the
2011 WSC Championship squad, was a fourth-round pick of the Washington Nationals.
The Vaqueros had one of the lowest ERAs in the State last season.
A native of Napa, Aspegren attended Justin-Siena High School.
Assistant Coach Wes Warrecker (2nd year)In his first year as an assistant at SBCC, the Vaqueros captured the WSC North title
and advanced to the Super Regional for the first time in school history.
Wes began coaching with his father Fred Warrecker, now in his 39th year at Santa Barbara
High, from 1990-1994. He started as the freshman coach in 1990 and was the varsity
pitching coach in 1994. He also coached and pitched for the Santa Barbara Foresters
from 1991-95. Wes returned to coaching for Santa Barbara High and was head coach for
the Santa Barbara Dons fall baseball program from 2004-2010.
Wes played baseball and football at Santa Barbara High (1981-84), Allan Hancock College
(1984-86) and San Francisco State (1986-89). He has a BA in Physical Education from
San Francisco State University. Wes resides in Santa Barfbara with his wife, Lara,
and their son Bryce.
Asistant Coach Nate Klein (2nd year)A former standout pitcher at Dos Pueblos High, USC and Hawaii, Nate joined the Vaquero
staff in 2011. He pitched for Dos Pueblos from 2001-05 and set single-season records
for ERA, innings pitched and strikeouts. He played for Coach Mike Gillespie at the University of Southern California from 2005-2007. Nate
underwent Tommy John surgery in 2006 and eventually transferred to SBCC. He left after
one year and became the Friday starter for the University of Hawaii from 2009-2011.
Defeated Oregon St. and University of Oregon to open his senior campaign before re-injuring
surgically repaired elbow for a second and final time. Graduated from the University
of Hawaii in May of 2011 with a Bachelor’s Degree in English.
He was born in Champaign, Illinois and grew up in Goleta, Calif. His parents are Stan Klein and
Judith Loftus. He's currently working on earning his MBA from Pepperdine University.
Assistant Coach Pat Rose (1st year)
Pat joins the Vaquero staff after serving as an assistant at UCSB last season. He
played baseball and soccer at Aliso Niguel High in Laguna Niguel, graduating in 2004. He
was recruited to play infield for the University of New Orleans in the Sun Belt Conference.
Transferred to UCSB after his freshman year. He was a four-year player for the Gauchos,
earning All-Big West honors in his senior season. Playing 2nd and 3rd base, he hit
.357 for the season and led the conference in hitting at .422. In his senior year,
he was drafted by the Colorado Rockies in 2008.
He's started work on his Master's at the University of Dallas.
